Discovering of Toulouse

City of space and aeronautics

Toulouse, city of aeronautics, it expounds the history of the airplanes' development. The museum of aviation (Aeroscopia) also allows you to discover the evolution of planes for differents era and différents type of plaines, the long haul of airplanes and military planes, like the Blériot XI , Concorde and the Airbus A380. During your visit, you can walk cross the Concorde :). If you like aviation, I recommand you to visit it.

Basilica of Saint-Sernin

The Basilica of Saint Sernin is a church in Toulouse and was added to UNESCO in 1998. is made in bricks, like the couvent of Jacobins.
This basilica is made mostly in red bricks, and the shape of it is a cross, for the resurection of the Christ. In this center of this cross, you have the bell tower and the height is 65 meters.
It's dedicated for Saint Sernin who was the first bishop at Toulouse and he's died and tha basilica contained the body of Saint-Sernin.
One fact interesting this cathedral is a step for each pelegrins for the path to Saint Jacques of Compostelle.

Le couvent des Jacobins

The couvent of Jacobins, located in Toulouse was built in bricks and the couvent is composed with a church, an enclosure, a chapter house and a chapel. The church was considered as the beautiful church dominical in Europe.

The Capitole and the Salles des Illustres

The Salle des Illustres, this room in the Capitole in Toulouse is a beautiful architecture and contains a lot of amazing paints from the 19th century. Différents painter, as Paul Pujol realized this room.
This room is served for ceremony, as wedding events every Saturday.

Walking around la Garonne and the canal du midi

The Garonne, a river from Spain and flows into the Atlantic ocean and crosses Toulouse.

Gastronomy

Toulouse, famous for the gastronomy. You will find below two good restaurant when I went in Toulouse, the cuisine and the vibe was great, so,I recommand them.

Le Genty Magre

We ate at Genty Magre, a good restaurant which will discover the French cuisine, you can start with Salmon, and follow by a Tournedos Rossini, it's a beef with foie gras, and drink with a good red wine and to finish to taste a fabulous Paris Brest. If you go at Toulouse, I recommand this restaurant. Booking first ;).

L'air de Famille

We ate in this restaurant, and we loved it. The chef is very talented, and his menu propose the terroir of the region and it's season food. Try some Occatanie specialities, like the Foie gras, or the Pintade.
If you go there, book a table.

Le marche Victor Hugo

If you want to discover local food, specialities, I recommand you to visit the Marché Victor Hugo. In this market, you can find a lot of goodproducts, as french cheeses, delicatessen, wines, fishes, etc.
